The effect of virtual reality glasses on anxiety during surgery under spinal anesthesia: a randomized controlled study

Background & objectives: Surgery–related anxiety can be observed due to several factors in patients undergoing surgery. With developing technology virtual reality (VR) glasses have begun used reduce the preoperative period. We aimed investigate effect of using VR on operation and sedation requirement during under spinal anesthesia. 
 Methodology: enrolled 97 between 18–75 y age, ASA class I–II, this study. Participants were randomized into group or standard care group. The State-Trait Anxiety Inventory for Trait (STAI–TA) State (STAI–SA) scores preoperatively score VAS scale surgery obtained. Patients watched a movie via (BOBO® Z4) after anesthesia surgical was commenced thereafter. In control group, without any additional procedure.
 Results: Both groups similar terms demographic hemodynamic data. There no statistically significant difference levels, STAI–SA STAI–TA scores. However, relative risk (RR) values significantly lower study all measurements (p < 0.05).
 Conclusion: believe that use decreases perioperative requirements procedure anesthesia.
